  • Microsoft Security Essentials
    • In sfarsit un antivirus care isi face pur si simplu treaba, fara a incetini sistemul de calcul si fara alerte fals-pozitive. Programul este gratuit, singura conditie fiind existenta unui sistem de operare legal.

  • Avast
    • Unul din cele mai bune programe antivirus de pe piata. Programul face toate actualizarile in mod automat, are interfata in mai multe limbi printre care si limba romana, si nu in ultimul rand dispune de o versiune gratuita.

  • ClamWin
    • ClamWin Antivirus este un antivirus gratuit pentru Windows. Interfata prietenoasa, actualizarea automata, integrare in Windows Explorer si MS Outlook sunt doar cateva dintre calitatile ce-l recomanda ca o solutie viabila. Tip licenta: Open Source. Puteti folosi acest program si la serviciu si acasa, puteti sa-l redistribuiti, puteti chiar sa-l modificati.

  • Spyware Terminator
    • Tip licenta: Freeware. Puteti folosi acest program si la serviciu si acasa. Descriere: Este un antispyware si totodata, datorita motorului ClamAv este si un excelent antivirus.

  • Spybot Search & Destroy
    • Navigarea pe Internet dar si instalarea unor programe (de regula gratuite) se soldeaza aproape sigur cu instalarea unor mici programe spyware sau adware, dupa cum sunt cunoscute ele. (Programele gratuite incluse in aceste pagini nu contin spyware si asware.) Programul Spybot are o biblioteca impresionanta de astfel de programe, le detecteaza si le elimina. Nu o face automat, puteti aproba sau nu, mai mult, puteti ulterior restaura situatia dinaintea operatiunii "Search & Destroy". Are o interfata stil Outlook, ceea ce il face simplu de utilizat.Tip licenta: Free. Puteti folosi acest program si la serviciu si acasa

  • Winpooch
    • Impreuna cu Clamwin face o echipa excelenta. Pe scurt, winpooch este un demon anti-spyware, anti-troian, anti-calcar, anti-acvatic si ce anti- mai vreti voi. Are si o componenta antivirus. Tip licenta: Free. Puteti folosi acest program si la serviciu si acasa

  • ZoneAlarm
    • Descriere: Programul ZoneAlarm este un firewall, adica un zid deprotectie intre calculatorul pe care este instalat si Internet. Un firewall are o dubla utilitate. In primul rand, el face invizibil calculatorul pentru conexiunile din exterior. Conexiunile la reteaua locala sau la Internet se fac prin intermediul unor porturi.Fiecare port are asociat un numar si anumite protocoale sau programe folosesc anumite porturi sau intervale de porturi (de exemplu, portul 80 este utilizat pentru navigarea pe web prin protocolul HTTP, iar portul 21 este folosit pentru transferul de fisiere prin FTP). Exista cateva zeci de mii de porturi, dintre care multe nu sunt folosite la un moment dat. Aceste porturi pot constitui calea de intrare pe calculator aunui hacker sau a unui virus.Majoritatea atacurilor venite prin Internet sunt atacuri orbesti. Exista programe distructive care scaneaza automat intervale de adrese IP pentru a gasi porturi deschise. Sa zicem ca, din peregrinarile pe web, v-ati ales cu un program troian pe calculator,care a cules toate numerele de carduri de credit gasite pe hard disc si acum doreste sa le comunice creatorului sau (pe principiul ET phone home).Programul troian va incerca sa acceseze Internetul in fundal, fara stirea utilizatorului, dar firewall-ul vegheaza si va avertizeaza: Programul Cutare.exe incearca sa acceseze Internetul. Ii permiteti sau nu? Daca blocati accesul la Internet al acelui program troian, informatiile furate de acesta nu mai ajung la destinatie. Tip licenta: Free pentru folosirea in scopuri necomerciale. ATENTIE ! Nu este voie sa folositi acest program la servici.

Multimedia
  • Audacity
    • Un program de editare audio ce poate inregistra si reda, importa si exporta fisiere de tip WAV, AIFF, MP3 etc. Are facilitati de mixare si aplicare de efecte pe inregistrarile deja create (efectele incorporate includ si Bass Boost, Wah-wah si eliminarea zgomotului de fundal). Puteti extrage sample-uri din fisiere mai mari sau inregistra clipuri audio in format mp3. Este tot ce va asteptati de la un utilitar avansat de editare audio.

  • Media Player Classic
    • Cu toate ca are o denumire asemanatoare cu a playerului din Windows si chiar arata la fel, acest program este un program rescris de la 0 si cu mult mai multe facilitati. Cred ca este cea mai buna varianta de player pentru fisierele video.

  • Winamp
    • Cel mai utilizat player audio la nivel mondial a suferit o noua actualizare. Este disponibil si in limba romana. Este un program complex, cu multe caracteristici incluse (egalizator, sisteme de vizualizare etc.), dar adevaratele capacitati sunt scoase în evidenta de catre plugin-urile sale. Acestea sunt fie incluse (plugin-urile pentru decodarea diverselor formate), fie se instaleaza si dau noi capacitati playerului. Winamp vine cu doua interfete de baza (clasic si modern), dar puteti descarca si instala si alte interfete.

  • Virtualdub
    • Un software pentru capturi si editare video recomandat. VirtualDub este un program gratuit pentru capturi video si editare video. Cu acest program gratuit puteti lucra cu fisierele mari, chiar si cele de peste 4GB. VirtualDub îi ofera de asemenea utilizatorului posibilitatea de a separa fluxurile audio si video ale unui film. VirtualDub este un program util pentru editarea fisierelor video. Fara a avea posibilitatea unor programe specializate , VirtualDub este excelent pentru operatii simple ca taierea/unirea fisierelor video, conversia acestora in diferite formate, folosind codec-urile instalate in sistem.

  • FFDShow
    • Pentru a putea sa vizualizezi orice film in format digital ai nevoie de codecurile cu care acestea au fost codate. Dar acestea pot fi destul de numeroase. In plus pentru vizionarea unui film nu ai neaparat nevoie de un codec. Majoritatea playerelor folosesc filtrele DirecsShow pentru redarea filmelor, motiv pentru care nu este necesara prezenta codecului. Pentru acest lucru, din vastitatea Internetului si-a facut aparitia filtrul ffdshow, un produs de prima mana al comunitatii OpenSource. Initial conceput ca o alternativa la codecurile bazate pe tehnologia MPEG4, destinat in principal calculatoarelor cu putere de procesare redusa, acesta a reusit sa revolutioneze conceptul de decodor. De la inceput acest filtru preia decodarea filmelor create cu codecurile Xvid, Divx 3, 4 si 5, Microsoft MPEG4 si versiuni mai vechi ale Windows Media Video. Lista de formate suportate este insa mai mare: MPEG 1, MPEG 2, MJPEG, DV, Huffyuv si inca alte cateva. Acesea din urma insa trebuie asociate manual cu filtrul dupa instalare, din fereastra de configurare. Filtrul dispune de optiuni ce aplica o postprocesare inteligenta asupra imaginii pentru a corecta cat mai mult din artefactele de codare rezultate din cauza unui biterate insuficient. Cam aici se termina treaba unui decodor, insa nu si pentru ffdshow. Acesta iti pune la dispozitie o multime de alte optiuni pentru procesarea imaginii. Poti aplica mai multe functii utile prin care sa obtii o calitate mai buna a fisierului video. Cei care au TV-Tuner au auzit cel mai probabil de programul DScaler, un alt reprezentant al ingeniozitatii comunitatii OpenSource. Acesta foloseste o serie de plug-in-uri care permit curatarea imaginii si ajuta la transformarea cadrelor intretesute in imagini progresive. Aceste plug-in-uri ale DScaler pot fi folosite, prin intermediul ffdshow pentru procesarea secventelor video. De asemenea, ffdshow permite aplicarea de corectii ale luminozitatii, o corectie gama simpla, o corectie gama separata pe canalele RGB. Cunoscatorii in domeniul editarii foto pot aplica chiar si reglaje ale nivelurilor sau pot aplica filtre de sharp asupra imaginii. De asemenea este disponibil si un modul pentru redarea subtitrarilor.

Aceste sectiuni sunt urmatoarele: YouTube, MP3 -Audio, CD-DVD-BD, DVD-Video, Foto-Imagini, Mobiles, Apple Devices, 3D. Astfel, toate programele sunt incluse în noua interfata pentru un acces facil.     • Din testele noastre rezulta ca aceasta suita de programe este cea mai buna alternativa la MS Office. Open Office contine un editor de text, destul de asemanator cu MS Word, un program de calcul tabelar care seamana cu Excel, un echivalent al Powerpoint-ului, un editor HTML si un program pentru grafica care este un Corel Draw mai mititel. Compatibitatea cu fisierele echivalente de la Microsoft este aproape totala. Pe linga avantajele de mai sus Open Office ofera posibilitatea salvarii documentelor in format Acrobat (pdf) fara a fi nevoie de un program suplimentar pentru aceasta.

Distributii Linux
  • Coyote Linux
    • Coyote-linux incape pe o discheta (exista si un wizard care ruleaza pe windows). Cu ajutorul sau se poate configura un mic router linux (care in acelasi timp e si firewall). Cu aceasta minune mica si desteapta poti face practic tot ce-ti trebuie pentru administrarea accesului la internet. Stie Port Forwarding, IPTables, poti regla calitatea serviciului pe IP-uri, poti se te conectezi la Coyote "dinafara" cu un client SSH (ex. putty) sau de pe orice statie locala (legata in reteaua locala) tot cu un client SSH sau cu un browser (pt. ca are si o interfata WEB de administrare), etc. Foarte util pentru partajarea unei conexiuni internet pentru mai multe calculatoare. Cerintele de sistem sunt calculator 486, indiferent de frecventa, 12 M RAM. Nu este necesar ca pe respectivul calculator sa die instalat un harddisk.

  • Puppy Linux
    • Puppy Linux e un proiect tanar cu o serie de functionalitati utile. Mai intai, se incarca in RAM, deci e foarte rapid; aveti nevoie de minim 128 MB de RAM.
